Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as your session state and preferences — across page loads and sessions.

In addition to traditional cookies, we may use related technologies such as local storage and session storage for functional purposes. This policy covers all such technologies collectively unless stated otherwise.

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be disabled. They do not track you for marketing purposes. They include:

  • Session management: an HttpOnly, Secure session token used to maintain your authenticated state. Expires when you close your browser or after 24 hours of inactivity.
  • CSRF protection: a cross-site request forgery token paired with the session cookie to prevent cross-origin request attacks. Expires with the session.
  • Rate limit identifier: a server-side key derived from your IP address stored in our Redis cache (not in your browser) to enforce API rate limits. Not a browser cookie — listed here for transparency.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be opted out of. Disabling them via browser settings will prevent authentication and core site functionality from working.

2.2 Analytics Cookies

We use privacy-first analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Our analytics approach collects no personally identifiable information, uses no cross-site tracking, and stores no advertising profiles. Specifically:

  • Page view counts: which pages are visited and from what referrer domain (not the full referring URL);
  • Session duration: approximate time-on-site in aggregate;
  • Country-level geolocation: derived from IP address for aggregate regional reporting only; IP addresses are not stored.

Analytics data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual visitors. No analytics cookie is set in your browser — analytics rely on server-side counting that places nothing on your device.

You may opt out of analytics tracking using the preference control at the bottom of this page. Your preference is saved as a first-party cookie on this domain and expires after 12 months.

CookieTypeDuration
session_tokenStrictly NecessarySession / 24h inactivity
csrf_tokenStrictly NecessarySession
rs_analytics_optPreference12 months

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is placed. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will impair core functionality.

Browser-specific instructions:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

To opt out of analytics via our on-site preference system, use the control at the bottom of this page. This places a first-party opt-out cookie on your browser.

Right Shield does not permit third-party advertising networks, social media platforms, or data brokers to place cookies on our site. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party behavioral tracking technology. The only external request your browser makes when visiting rightshield.io is to our CDN provider (Vercel Edge Network) for static asset delivery — this does not set cookies in your browser.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our technology or legal requirements change. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made. If we introduce new categories of cookies, we will notify active users and, where required, obtain fresh consent before placing such cookies.
